Wassup y’all. I’m BACK! Here on my first overseas trip of 2007. Yes, I’ve been keeping a low profile plotting ye’ ole’ renaissance, from my new digs in N. Hollywood CA! Loads of stuff has happened since I flipped to the West Side. Honestly I’m not even sure where to begin breaking it all down for y’all. But suffice it to say it’s been off the hook.
But to bring it back to the present, today is my first day at the TED Global Conference being held here in Arusha, Tanzania. ‘Tis the first time TED has come to Africa and I am straight up meeting the most AMAZING people every few minutes. It’s almost like a brain overload kid. I already have a bunch of folks to followup w/ and some potential collaborators and I haven’t been here 24hrs yet. Before I say anymore let me tell you that Arusha is absolutely STUNNING! The place is so beautiful and peaceful and about as green as the planet gets! We really should have a lot more things like this going down in Africa.
Anyway, I am supposed ot be off chatting or schmoozing or something right now, so I’m a’ leave it at that. When I get on again I’ll post a link to a new tune I recorded over the weekend. Meanwhile I’m off to change the world. I think I’ve found some good company…
Peace, D.N.A

WOW…..Im glad you really liked Arusha besides the lost LUGGAGE…..well i must say TED Was the BEST . a lot of very interesting people to meet…..we really learnt a lot and this is something that should happen in africa more often…….I WONDER WHERE THEY ARE HOLDING THIS NEXT..

Hey all & welcome to my belated response! And with no further ado:
dna – Ola! Dig your tag my dude. Mine stems from me given name: Derrick Nana Kwesi Abaka Ashong. I usually go by Derrick N. Ashong, hence the D.N.A which is great as D.N.K.A.A is a helluva mouthful and I can’t be havin’ people running around calling me “dinka”. HA!
Emmilly – TED was awesome! I had such a great time and met some phenomenal people. There was no way a lil lost luggage was gonna’ keep me down (thank God my mum taught me how to handwash clothes…ooh, you mean people still do that?)! I have no idea where the next Global will be held, but I think you’re right there should be more such things happening in Africa. Some of the fellows have started a listserv that is really looking at how to harness some of the energies from the event. I have a gang of thoughts on this tip, so perhaps that will be subject of a future post. We’ll see!
Kobby – Hey & great to hear from you! Thanks for supporting the vision and yeah, we are gonna’ need grease to knees, elbows and maybe even a lil between the ears as this thing flips to a whole new level. I would love to contribute some music to the project. Will peep link! You can also holla’ at me and the crew at “fam at sweetmother dot org” . Shout-outs to the UK!
